Today, the Government of India abrogated Article 370 and 35A of the constitution, bifurcating J&K and Ladakh as two Union Territories; J&K with Legislature and Ladakh without Legislature. Kudos to the Government for such a brave decision. With this starts the integration of INDIA.
We at IAMBUDDHA started a campaign on 18th of February this year for abolishing Article 370 and 35A. Many users filled the form and signed the petition supporting this protest.
Abrogation of Article 370 and 35A, by the Government, fills our heart with immense joy.
Article 370 of the Indian Constitution is a ‘Temporary Provision’ granting ‘Autonomous Status’ to Jammu & Kashmir.
Sheikh Abdullah drafted this provision in 1947. He was appointed as the Prime Minister of J&K by Maharaja Hari Singh and Jawaharlal Nehru. He protested for ‘Iron Clad Autonomy’ for the state but the Centre denied.
Article 35A allows the Jammu and Kashmir legislature to define ‘permanent residents’ of the state. Prohibiting the citizens of other states to purchase a property, acquire employment under the State Government, acquire immovable property in the State, settlement in the State right to scholarships and such other forms of aid as the State Government may provide.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah declared the abrogation of Article 370 and 35A in the Parliament on 5th of August 2019. The official gazette of the matter was signed by the President of India, Ram Nath Kovind.
The Home Minister also introduced the bill for Reorganization of Jammu and Kashmir in the Parliament, announcing the bifurcation of J&K into two Union Territories (UTs);
- Jammu and Kashmir shall be a Union Territory with its own Legislature.
- Ladakh region shall be a separate Union Territory without its own Legislature.
- The two states shall have separate Lieutenant Governors.
Section 144 of the CrPC prohibiting the assembly of more than four persons in an area; has been imposed in parts of J&K, declaring a high alert. At critical areas government has tightened the security by increasing armed forces. Political leaders including former chief ministers Omar Abdullah and President of J&K Mehbooba Mufti had been placed under house arrest late on August 4. Here starts the integration of INDIA! Kudos to the Indian Government for taking such a revolutionary and brave decision. People all over India are celebrating this historic movement by the Government. Jai Hind!
