Vivek Agnihotri’s directorial “The Tashkent Files”; with a magnificent 75 days run in the theaters is still running strong. Rarest of the rare scenarios when a small budget film, without any hype marketing or promotions rake 50 times life-time business of day-1; completes such a colossal run at theaters and survives the onslaught of big-budget Hollywood and Bollywood movies.

The film now a case-study at IIM Ahmedabad, was invited for special screening by Rashtrapati Bhavan, Headquarters of RSS organization, National Sports Club of India; being admired nationally and internationally by all age-groups, mostly by the youth of India.

Based on the mysterious death of India’s second Prime Minister Shri Lal Bahadur Shastri in Tashkent, in hours after signing the Tashkent Agreement, as a peace treaty with Pakistan during the Indo-Pak war-1965. The film hints a suspicious foul-play by then acting government that denied a postmortem or further investigation and erased his story from the history like his death a mystery. Shri Lal Bahadur Shastri gifted India with the ‘Green Revolution’ ‘White Revolution’ and the slogan ‘Jai Jawan Jai Kisaan!’ He was connected to Indian roots. In his presence India would never be colonized. The film also link the dots between the demise of Lal Bahadur Shastri, Dr. Homi Bhabha and Subhash Chandra Bose.
