“I’ve been wanting to make a film on the Kashmir issue for a long time; and after my recent success I have the confidence to tackle this sensitive subject. Little kids were shot, women raped and people told to leave their houses at night. The film will be an honest investigation into one of the biggest human tragedies.” Vivek Agnihotri officially declared his upcoming film on Kashmiri Pundit issues, titled “The Kashmir Files”
“I have been working closely with the activists in Kashmir and spoken to top politicians. Initially I was planning a book, now it’s a film.” Says the director of “The Kashmiri files”. Planning to visit all the places where the Kashmiri Pundit refugee have settled; from Jammu, Delhi, Mumbai to abroad; Vivek opts to record the first-hand account of the victims.
Cinematography of films on Kashmir have mostly portrayed the army in a poor light and justified terrorism. “That’s the wrong narrative based on propaganda. I am going to break this myth”; Vivek promises to portray the real image of Indian Army.
His last film, an ultimate HIT! quaked the Box-office with a life-time business 50 times of day-1. Setting a benchmark with a 50 day run in theaters, and still running at houseful capacity; the film raked 8.4/10 by IMDb, 87% by Bookmyshow and 95% by Google users. Grossing a BOC of 18crore, despite of extremely limited release on 250 screens; and surviving the onslaughts of the biggies like “Kalank” “Avengers: Endgame” “SOTY2” and “De Pyaar De”; this Ingenious film now a CASE-STUDY at IIM Ahmedabad, emerged as “The People’s Film”!
India 4 Kashmir: a Pan-India movement to reclaim our lost ground & rehabilitate India in Kashmir with dignity; with catchphrase ‘One Step towards Kashmir’; heartily invited the brave initiative of Vivek Agnihotri saying; “India 4 Kashmir welcomes this initiative by Shri @vivekagnihotri & extends full support for making of this path breaking movie.
