ISRO’s soon to launch lunar mission, Chandrayaan-2 the sequel of Chandrayaan-1, have been postponed due to some technical glitch. Geosynchronous Satellite Launch Vehicle Mark III will launch the mission soon to the Moon. With accomplishment of this mission, India shall be the 4th country to achieve SOFT LANDING on the Moon.

Objective of this mission is the studies of topography, mineralogy, elemental abundance, lunar exosphere, signatures of hydroxyl and water ice. Preparing 3D maps, it will measure the abundance of lunar water.

In this 9.78 billion project, 30% of the team members are FEMALE. Moreover, Mission Director and Project Director are the leading LADIES.

Ritu Karidhal from Lucknow is the Mission Director of Chandrayaan-2. She joined ISRO in 2007 and was designated Deputy Operations Director in the Mars Orbiter Mission, 2014. She played a vital role in the accomplishment of the MOM.

M. Vanitha is the first female Project Director of ISRO. Known as the DATA CRUNCHER, M. Vanitha an ace data specialist headed the Telemetry and Telecommand Division, in the Digital System Group of ISRO. She was honored with ‘The Best Women Scientist Award’ in 2016. A big shout-out to the ‘Naari Shakti’ of Mission Chandrayaan-2!
