Today, PM Modi unveiled the Statue of Shri Lal Bahadur Shastri and launched BJP Membership Drive at Varanasi.

Today on the birth anniversary of the founder of BJP Dr. Syama Prasad Mookerjee the honorable Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, unveiled the statue of India’s second Prime Minister Shri Lal Bahadur Shastri at Babatpur airport in Varanasi around 10:00am, followed by the launch of Mega plantation drive. At around 11:30am he launched @BJP4India’s MEMBERSHIP DRIVE, elaborating his thoughts on the Budget and India’s growth trajectory in the coming years.

Shri Lal bahadur Shastri was the second Prime Minister of India. Connected to the Indian Roots and embedded into simplicity, he brought ‘The Green Revolution’ ‘The White Revolution’ and gave the slogan of “Jai Jawan Jai Kisaan” during the Indo-Pak war 1965. It was because of him, that we won the war against Pakistan. In collaboration with Dr. Homi Bhabha he was about to launch the inventions of Nuclear weapon, soon after Independence. His death in Tashkent after signing the Tashkent Agreement, a Peace Treaty is still a mystery that haunts India. His story was erased from the pages of history.

History will mark the day when, the fourteenth Prime Minister of India unveiled the statue of second Prime Minister of India.  PM Shri Narendra Modi payed tribute to the legend by bowing down and showering flowers on his statue. Followed by it was the launch of Mega plantation drive, a campaign to emphasize the importance of tree plantation.

At around 11:30am he launched the @BJP4India’s MEMBERSHIP DRIVE. The membership drive is available on the Namo app and on a helpline.

“On the Jayanti of our inspiration, Dr. Syama Prasad Mookerjee, the @BJP4India Membership Drive will begin. I will be joining the program in Kashi to mark the same. This drive will further connect people from all walks of life with the BJP family. It will strengthen our party.” the honorable Prime Minister tweeted on social media.

“Anyone can become member by giving a missed call on a mobile number or by filing a form”- BJP vice-president Shivraj Singh Chouhan. He added, “The party has set a target of adding a minimum of 20 per cent more workers during the membership drive, which will end on August 11.”
