SURAT; Tabrez Ansari Mob lynching protestors turn vigorously violent. Booked under Section-144.

The protestors of Tabrez Ansari mob lynching turned violent; stone pelted the Police officials injuring 5; destroyed public properties and tried to gate crash, in the Nanpura area of Surat, the diamond city of Gujarat. Police lobbed tear gas shells, lathi-charged and fired in the air to disperse the mob and bring the situation under-control.

Few days back, 24-year-old Tabrez Ansari was thrashed by a mob in Jharkhand, being accused of motorcycle theft with two of his partners, who managed to escape. Brutally beaten up to death, the locals forced him to chant “Jai Shri Ram” and “Jai Hanuman”.

Where people worldwide are protesting for justice against mob lynching, more than 1,500 minorities opted for a silent protest at Nanpura area of Surat, the diamond city of Gujarat. With a protest of Justice against mob lynching of Tabrez Ansari, they demanded to declare him as a martyr. Rally got the permission from Badekhan Chakla to Nanpura near Dotiwala bakery. When the rally reached Makkai pul circle, Police officials urged to stop the rally due to lack of permission in that area under Section-144 and tried to explain them the situation politely. “Section 144 of the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC) of 1973 empowers an executive magistrate to prohibit an assembly of more than four persons in an area.” The mob turned violent and started stone pelting on the police officials, majorly injuring four cops and minor injury to one. Damaging public properties in rage, they damaged the city bus passing by. In order to control the mob, Police had to start lathi-charging. The mob turned more violent. The police lobbed tear gas and gun-fired two round in the air, to disperse the crowd and bring the situation under control.

According to sources; the rally was led by Versatile Minority Forum President advocate Babu Pathan and his associates, as a protest to mob lynching of Tabrez Ansari in Jharkhand; without proper permission.

Honorable Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi expressed his grief, assuring that law shall punish the responsible.
