Surat FIRE HAZARD kill 20 students! Ketan Chodvadiya, redefined bravery, rescuing students at life-risk!

Illegally covered roof-top, no escape route and absence of fire safety measures, in the four-storey Takshashila Commercial Complex of Surat; suffocated the students to death. In the panic to escape death, some jumped off the smoke-engulfed building either getting severely injured or losing their lives.

Amongst the chaos, Ketan Chodvadiya, who lives just behind the building, was on his way home. When he saw the fire-breakdown and smoke engulfed building, he stopped. Ketan climbed the building, perched himself on a ledge, and saved several students who were jumping from the top floor of the building. An ordinary man turned to a REAL HERO in an extraordinary second; redefining Bravery!

Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani, ordered an investigation for this mishap; declaring a financial help of 4 lakhs to the families of deceased. Assuring that the guilty would not be spared; he has ordered a fire safety audit of schools, colleges and coaching centers in the state. The audit would also cover malls, hospitals and other commercial buildings.The Surat Police have arrested one of the three accused who ran the tuition classes on theillegal roof-top.

“Extremely anguished by the fire tragedy in Surat. My thoughts are with bereaved families. May the injured recover quickly. Have asked the Gujarat Government and local authorities to provide all possible assistance to those affected. Honorable PM Narendra Modi expressed his anguish.

“Deeply saddened by the news of Surat fire tragedy. Instructed officials to do needful. My prayers are with all those affected. May those who have been injured recover at the earliest. I pray for the departed souls. Om Shanti.” Chief Minister of Gujarat, Vijay Rupani expressed his condolences.
